Easy Concrete Polished Cleaning Tips

By Mikkan Drane

Concrete polished floor had become quite the popular alternative against the rest of its floor type competition mostly because of how easy it is to maintain it. Usually, a polished concrete floor only requires mop damping, washing and nothing more. Unless of course necessary which could also be because of so many reasons.

Having the natural look on your floor could make seeing the dirt a bit harder thus cleaning it is often forgotten or taken for granted. With the colored stained floor however, dirt and grime is a lot more obvious making cleaning a must once dirt starts building up.

The color of the concrete polished floor should not be the basis of whether to clean it or not. When the floor both colored or gray, starts having dirt and grime build up, must be cleaned at once. This will help in guaranteeing the longevity of the floor's life.

Before the heavy cleaning though, what should be considered is the left over residue of the Epoxy used as sealant. This can easily be cleaned through the use of a blow torch. The black markings that could possibly be left during the burning can be removed by bleaching the burnt area.

After removing the Epoxy residue, options of deep cleaning includes the traditional water to parts of hydrochloric acid or phosphoric acid proportions for cleaning. The cleaning agent to be used depends on what is allowed for your floor's material. With the rest of the dirt, you can always use that usual water and bleach mixture.

One of the most preferred polished concrete floor cleaning process is the steam cleaning option. This is commonly used to clean coffee, pop and other beverage stains without the hassles of harming the floor make. It is said that steam cleaning is actually the safest means of concrete polished floor cleaning, thus preventing damages that could be caused by inappropriate use of cleaning materials.

Often times, we panic at the thought of cleaning oil and grease since they seem like the hardest to remove on concrete polished floor. But would you believe that all you need for this is some sawdust or kitty litter spread on the thick layer of stain? Leaving it to dry for a day or two, sweeping it up then covering the stain again with dry cement mix will actually do the trick of cleaning it off.

For the rest of the cleaning areas on concrete polished floor, all you need to do is the usual regular cleaning style involving soap and water. Awareness on maintenance is the key on keeping the floor looking good and new all the time, giving it the satisfying long life service you would want from your polished concrete floor. - 16738
