Satellite Internet Access for Middle East Locations

By Lawrence Fernandes

There are many reasons to make sure there is satellite Internet access for the Middle East. It is not uncommon for people who live in other parts of the world to give little thought to Internet access. If we think about it at all, we assume everyone has it. Of course, that could not be farther from the truth. Some people cannot afford a connection. Some people cannot afford a computer. And some people have no access, connection wise. These are actually all reasons why the Middle East could benefit from satellite access.

First of all, we need to discuss what satellite Internet access is. It is typically found in areas where a terrestrial connection is not readily available. It is also used by people who change locations often. Thus, boats, ships, and even vehicles on land can be on the Internet.

It is a fairly new development. One of the biggest benefits is that the connections generally run at very high speeds. Most computers can connect to the Internet through satellite access. Furthermore, your connection will always be active. Thus, you never have to wait for your modem to dial in or worry that the access numbers will be busy.

These connections are a little like DSL. The only difference is that satellite access is not as problematic as DSL. All the same, like a DSL and cable connection, satellite Internet access is a way to get a high speed connection.

Surprisingly little is needed to get this type of connection. Basically, all you really need is a clear and open view of the southern sky. Areas like the Middle East are thus ideal for this type of connection. Wide, open areas are perfectly suited for it. The more unobstructed the southern view, the better, faster, and more stable the connection.

Therein lies another key difference between a satellite Internet connection and DSL. When you use DSL, the speed of your connection depends on how close you are to your service provider's tower. That is not the case with satellite access. As long as you have an open view of the sky, your connection will be fast.

Satellite Internet access would be beneficial to the Middle East for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, it will allow people who might not otherwise have Internet access to get online. People would not have to rely on Internet cafes, for example. Besides, this type of Internet access tends to be less expensive than a terrestrial connection, which is unquestionably beneficial to natives of the Middle East.

Of course, right now especially, there is a lot of military personnel currently living in parts of the Middle East, not to mention other emigrants, tourists, and people who are not originally from there. Satellite Internet access would make it easier for them to talk to their friends and families. It would also be more affordable for parties on both sides of the fence. In economic times like this, that is great. - 16738
