Free Classifieds How Do They Work?

By Alex Wu

The local paper wants to charge you a large fee to advertise something, and the fee is almost as much as the item you want to sell. Try the Internet free Classified ads. They are a great money saver for those of you that have items to sell. You can sell anything from real estate to jewelry. The Internet targets a larger audience for you. They will target local and statewide audiences, and some even global for those small items that you want to sell.

You know that the people looking at your Internet classified ad are people that are interested in what you have to sell. That is why they go onto these sites. You will get better exposure and save the cost. It is a good option for many people. Even selling on E-bay you have fees this is the better way to do it.

Free advertising through these classified ads can reach a large audience. People who do not get the paper, or even if they do, often go online to look at the Classifieds for better deals, it is also an easy way to find something that is needed.

Free classified websites make their money off of click ads that are placed on each of their web pages, and also by charging extra feature fees such as for placing a picture with your classified ad this seems to keep them running quite well. They are not all free, so be sure you know what you are getting into.

When you are ready to place your ad, make sure that you write a good advertisement. Be brief, informative, and give a good description of what you are selling. Use an e-mail address rather than a phone number for a contact, as your phone number can be all over the web and you will receive calls you do not want.

Do not give out a phone number to call, people will call you all hours of the day and night. Dive an e-mail address for contact. I would create a free e-mail account just for this purpose. This will save you much grief. Place in the ad what type of payments you will accept. PayPal is my favorite, but you can take money orders and checks. I would not release the item or service until the check clears. There are scammers who use the "I will send the money once I know you have sent he product". Do not fall for that.

When you decide on a website to sell on, check to see if they have a forum or message board there. Read them to see how well the ads on this website work. Get involved and ask questions as well. The better informed you are will make you a better seller.

Make sure you read the Terms of Service so you know about any fees or restrictions on things that they let you post. Find out how many days that your ad will run. The normal ad runs for seven to thirty days. Remove your ad when your item sells. Make some money, and pay no fees. - 16738
